With a weight of less than 1kg, a slim and lightweight chassis, and the famous ThinkPad keyboard, the X1 Nano is aimed at business professionals who need an ultra-lightweight Ultrabook that is perfect for portability.

ThinkPad has never been this light

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano still features a somewhat angular, powerful design along with the traditional black color of the ThinkPad line. The machine continues to use a sturdy Magnesium aluminum alloy as its primary material, with a premium smooth velvet coating in every detail. Additionally, the back cover will feature a carbon fiber finish with attractive patterns if users choose the touchscreen version.

While the exterior has changed quite noticeably, the interior maintains the design style of the X1 Carbon Gen 8. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano still uses flexible and sturdy dual-side hinges that can be opened with one hand. Two auxiliary speaker strips are neatly placed under the screen to provide a vivid audio experience for users. The screen bezels have reached a sophisticated level, nearly an Infinity Edge similar to the Dell XPS.

The machine has a thickness of only about 13mm and weighs less than 1kg, much like a notebook.

Superior performance with Intel Tiger Lake

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is a business laptop equipped with the latest 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake processor, maximizing power efficiency. Additionally, being equipped with Intel Evo technology ensures that the machine always operates at maximum capacity even when not plugged into a charger.

RAM is the next major improvement on the X1 Nano. Instead of using the outdated LPDDR3L RAM standard found on the X1 Carbon Gen 7 and Gen 8, this machine uses the fastest LPDDR4x RAM at 4266MHz, providing faster data access for specialized software.

The machine is equipped with powerful Intel Iris Xe graphics, comparable to discrete graphics cards from competitors Nvidia and AMD. With this graphics card, users can handle graphic tasks as well as play some games at appropriate settings.

Sharp screen, wide aspect ratio

The machine only has one resolution option, which is a 2K IPS anti-glare display. It also uses a modern 16:10 screen aspect ratio, providing a wide viewing angle and efficient working space. According to manufacturer specifications, this screen has a brightness of 450 nits, with 100% sRGB color gamut and Dolby Vision support.

Additionally, the machine has a glossy touchscreen option with nearly identical specifications. This screen is very well-suited for those who frequently draw or give direct presentations.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard on the X1 Nano is also designed similarly to the X1 Carbon Gen 8 version. It has a shallow key travel of about 1.5mm like its predecessor, but still provides a very tactile typing experience. However, to fit the 13-inch size, the key spacing seems to have become narrower.

The Touchpad appears to have been improved in size, with the surface still covered in a premium smooth glass layer, which has long been a characteristic of the X1 series. A highlight of Lenovo TouchPads in general and ThinkPads in particular is that they are always equipped with Windows Precision Drivers, providing a precise and responsive feel for every gesture. Both sides of the mouse offer good responsiveness.

Notably, Lenovo has not removed the TrackPoint, allowing for extremely precise one-handed operation.

Connectivity

Following a minimalist Ultrabook direction, the ThinkPad X1 Nano has removed many connectivity ports. The machine is equipped with 2 USB-C ports supporting Thunderbolt 4, with 1 port supporting fast charging, along with a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. Kudos to Lenovo for not removing this port. On the right side, only the power button is located there.
