Dell XPS 17

Not everyone who needs a large display wants to switch entirely to a desktop PC, especially when their workflow still demands portability alongside expansive screen real estate. The Dell XPS 17 is Dell's premium 17 inch laptop lineup, distinguished by a remarkably slim chassis for its size, an ultra-sharp display, and dedicated graphics options tailored for creative pros, engineers, and heavy multitaskers. Hung Phat currently focuses on the in-stock XPS 17 9730 generation. This guide breaks down specifications, pricing, and how to choose the right Dell XPS 17 laptop for your needs.

Dell XPS 17: Premium 17 Inch Laptop for Expansive Screen Real Estate

Within the XPS family, the XPS 17 is built for users who need a spacious screen while keeping a sleeker profile than a traditional gaming laptop or mobile workstation. The 17 inch form factor makes navigating large spreadsheets, photo editing, content creation, and multi-window workflows far more comfortable - especially with the UHD+ touch display configuration available at Hung Phat.

The newest generation in our current catalog is the XPS 17 9730, powered by 13th Gen Intel Core processors and optional RTX 40 series GPUs. The configuration available at Hung Phat features a Core i7-13700H, 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, an RTX 4050 6GB GPU, and a UHD+ touchscreen - ideal for professionals seeking top-tier performance in a flagship build.

Dell lists two display options for the XPS 17 9730: a non-touch FHD+ 1920 x 1200 panel and a 10-point multi-touch UHD+ 3840 x 2400 panel. According to the official XPS 17 9730 Setup and Specifications documentation, the UHD+ option delivers 500 nits of brightness, a minimum of 100% Adobe RGB, and 99% typical DCI-P3 coverage, depending on the market.

Dell XPS 17 9730 Price List and Previous XPS 17 Generations

Hung Phat's Dell XPS 17 inventory currently has one model in stock: the DELL XPS 17 9730 (2023). Earlier iterations, including the XPS 17 9720, 9710, and 9700, are listed for reference and comparison, but are currently out of stock.

Laptop Model	Processor	Key Highlights	Reference Price
Dell XPS 17 9730	Core i7-13700H	RTX 4050 6GB, UHD+ touch, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD	Around VND 45 million
Dell XPS 17 9720	Core i7-12700H	Previous generation, optional RTX 3050 4GB	Out of stock
Dell XPS 17 9710	Core i7-11800H	Previous generation, optional RTX 3050 or RTX 3060	Out of stock
Dell XPS 17 9700	Core i9-10885H	Previous generation, RTX 2060 6GB	Out of stock

A major highlight of the XPS 17 9730 is internal upgradeability that beats most other premium thin-and-light laptops. Dell specifies two DDR5 4800 MT/s SODIMM slots supporting up to 64GB of RAM, along with two M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Gen4 slots for storage. This makes it an excellent choice for users looking for long-term longevity rather than being locked into fixed specs on day one.

The port selection takes a clean, high-bandwidth approach with four Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting USB-C 40 Gbps, DisplayPort 1.4, and Power Delivery, complemented by a full-size SD 4.0 card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. On RTX 4050 configurations, Dell states that the system can drive up to three external 4K displays at 60Hz while the laptop screen remains active - perfect for multi-monitor workstations.

Compared to other options in our Dell XPS lineup, the XPS 17 stands out with its expansive display, massive 97Wh battery, and 130W USB-C power adapter. Weighing in at 2.31 - 2.57 kg, it is not an ultra-light machine, but it remains a very practical option for those who prioritize massive screen real estate and robust performance inside a premium chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions About Choosing Between New and Previous Dell XPS 17 Generations

Is the Dell XPS 17 9730 still worth buying in 2026?

Yes, especially if your priority is a 17 inch screen paired with a Core i7-13700H, 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an RTX 4050 6GB GPU. It remains a high-performance configuration well-equipped for creative tasks, heavy multitasking, and content production in the premium laptop segment.

Can you upgrade the RAM and SSD on the Dell XPS 17 9730?

Dell specifies that the XPS 17 9730 features two DDR5 4800 MT/s SODIMM RAM slots and two M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Gen4 slots. This provides significant upgrade potential compared to thin-and-light laptops that use soldered-down memory.

Should I choose the Dell XPS 17 or a smaller XPS laptop?

If you frequently juggle multiple windows, edit photos, render content, or need generous visual space, the Dell XPS 17 is the superior choice. If daily mobility is your top priority, smaller XPS models are lighter and easier to carry around.

Should I buy an older Dell XPS 17 such as the 9720, 9710, or 9700?

Earlier generations still serve as useful benchmarks, but they are currently out of stock in our inventory. If you need a machine right now, the in-stock XPS 17 9730 is the better path, offering newer hardware and clear product availability.
