Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano

Weighing less than 1kg, with a slim, lightweight body and ThinkPad’s famously comfortable keyboard, the X1 Nano is built for business users who need an ultra-light Ultrabook that is easy to carry anywhere.

ThinkPad Has Never Been This Light

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano keeps the slightly angular, strong design language and traditional black finish that have long defined the ThinkPad lineup. The machine still uses a sturdy Magnesium aluminum alloy as its primary material, finished with a premium soft-touch coating down to the smallest detail. In addition, the lid is covered in carbon fiber with attractive woven lines if users choose the touchscreen display version.

The exterior has changed quite noticeably, while inside, the machine still retains the design approach of the X1 Carbon Gen 8. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano continues to use a durable, sturdy dual-hinge setup that can be opened with one hand. Two secondary speaker strips are neatly placed below the display, delivering a more immersive audio experience for users. The display bezels are impressively refined, almost like the Infinity Edge design on the Dell XPS.

The machine is only about 1.3mm thin and weighs less than 1kg, much like a notebook.

Outstanding Performance with Intel Tiger Lake

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is a business laptop equipped with the latest 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake processor, greatly improving power consumption. In addition, Intel Evo technology certification helps this machine consistently operate at maximum performance even when it is not plugged in.

RAM is the next major improvement on the X1 Nano. Instead of using the outdated LPDDR3L RAM standard found on the X1 Carbon Gen 7 and Gen 8, this machine uses LPDDR4x RAM at the fastest speed, 4266MHz, enabling faster data access in specialized software.

The machine is equipped with a powerful Intel Iris Xe graphics card, on par with discrete graphics cards from rivals Nvidia and AMD. With this graphics card, users can handle graphics tasks as well as play a few games at suitable settings.

A Sharp Display with a Wider Aspect Ratio

The machine has only one resolution option: 2K IPS with anti-glare. It also uses a modern 16:10 aspect ratio, providing a wider viewing area and a more efficient workspace. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, this display has 450 nits of brightness, 100% sRGB color coverage, and Dolby Vision support.

In addition, the machine also offers a glossy touchscreen display option with nearly equivalent specifications. This display provides excellent support for users who often draw, as well as for direct presentations.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard on the X1 Nano is also designed similarly to the X1 Carbon Gen 8 version. Key travel is shallow, around 1,5mm like the previous version, but it still delivers a very solid typing feel. However, to fit the 13 inches size, the spacing between keys appears to be narrower.

The touchpad appears to have been improved in size, while its surface is still covered with a premium smooth glass layer, a signature characteristic of the X1 series. The standout feature of Lenovo touchpads in general and ThinkPad in particular is that they are always equipped with Windows Precision Driver, delivering an accurate, responsive feel for every gesture. The left and right mouse buttons provide good feedback.

To Lenovo’s credit, it still has not removed the machine’s TrackPoint, allowing extremely precise one-handed operation.

Ports

Because it follows a minimalist Ultrabook direction, the ThinkPad X1 Nano removes quite a few ports. The machine is equipped with 2 USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4, with 1 port supporting fast charging, along with a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. Lenovo deserves credit for not removing this connection port. On the right side, only the power button is positioned there.

ThinkPad X1 Nano - An Excellent Business Ultrabook

With a redesigned look that matches current trends, an upgraded port system using the powerful Thunderbolt 4 protocol, and an exceptionally light weight, ThinkPad X1 Nano promises to become the lightest thin-and-light laptop users have ever owned. With the Intel Tiger Lake chip, the machine will run exceptionally smoothly, powerfully, and reliably.
