Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6

With a thin and lightweight design, the legendary ThinkPad keyboard, and powerful performance, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 is built for business users, office professionals, and programmers who need a stable laptop for long-term use.

Optimized for a wide range of work

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 comes standard with Intel's 8th Gen Kaby Lake-R CPU lineup, featuring a 4-core, 8-thread processor for strong performance and smooth multitasking. It can also render long Full HD videos and handle heavy Excel files. In addition, the laptop is still available with a 7th Gen Core i5 CPU with 2 cores and 4 threads, making it a solid fit for users who want reliable, stable performance.

Design - Small changes that make a difference

Compared with the previous X1 Carbon Gen 5, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 does not look dramatically different in its overall design. It still uses a sturdy magnesium alloy frame, while the lid is crafted from carbon material. This year, however, the lid is accented with the X1 logo on the left side, adding a refined, premium touch.

The laptop still uses dual side hinges, now finished in black for a more cohesive look. The display bezels have not changed significantly, but Lenovo has added a ThinkShutter slider to enhance security.

An upgraded display experience

The laptop uses a Full HD display with a premium IPS panel. However, screen brightness is only average at 300 nits, which can make it somewhat difficult to use in strong lighting. Even so, color coverage remains very high, with 94% sRGB and 67% AdobeRGB.

The laptop also offers a 2K display option with wider color coverage. Lenovo has also equipped the X1 Carbon Gen 6 lineup with a 2K HDR display option featuring Dolby Vision technology for true-to-life, sharp color reproduction.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard design is not significantly different from the 5th generation. It has a sensible layout, deep key travel, and remains comfortable even during long typing sessions. The keycaps are curved to create a smooth, comfortable feel while typing.

The touchpad is still designed like the previous generation. Its smooth glass-coated surface delivers an exceptionally fluid glide. Gesture response is sensitive, with no delay during use. The two mouse buttons are highly responsive and produce a soft click.

The TrackPoint is an essential part of any ThinkPad laptop. It feels natural under the finger and tracks with precision. The supporting mouse buttons are very responsive and have a clear actuation point.

Ports

Although this is an Ultrabook, Lenovo has not cut back on connectivity. The laptop includes two USB Type A 3.1 Gen 1 ports, 2 USB Type C ports with Thunderbolt 3, one HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a nanoSim slot paired with microSD.

Security

The laptop is equipped with an ultra-responsive one-touch fingerprint sensor with highly secure authentication. It also offers a face unlock option, helping minimize the risk of document theft. A built-in dTPM 2.0 chip adds functions such as hard drive locking and password requirements when entering the operating system. In addition, ThinkShutter further improves security by helping prevent third-party intrusion.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 - The perfect Ultrabook?

Although its design is not especially flashy, its stable performance and new-generation multi-core, multi-thread CPU make it a business laptop worthy of users' attention. This is a laptop that can completely redefine premium ultrabooks from hardware brands.
