Dell seems to have phased out the 12.5-inch Latitudes in this Latitude 5000 lineup, replacing them with the 5300 featuring a 13.3-inch display. Overall, the machine retains the design language of the previous Latitude 5290 with a reinforced plastic chassis; however, it lacks the soft-touch coating found on earlier versions.

The bezels have been slimmed down, allowing the device to maintain a footprint similar to the previous 12.5-inch models. The hinges are designed on both sides, are sturdy, and allow for a 180-degree opening.

Despite using a WVA panel, the device is equipped with a 250 nits brightness screen with high color coverage, performing significantly better than its predecessors, the Latitude 5400 and 5500.
