Design

With a silver-gray tone that exudes elegance, along with a completely redesigned HP logo to distinguish the premium segment that HP has long aimed for in this product line. The lid of the HP Zbook 15 G5 is made of solid silver-gray painted aluminum, featuring a square appearance with diagonal cuts on two edges near the hinge. At the top of the lid is an antenna bezel that is very delicately assembled, adding an accent to the exterior.

The seamless center hinge is painted silver-gray to match the rest of the machine, providing a sturdy feel when opening and closing the screen, with a hinge opening angle of up to 150 degrees. The chassis is made of solid aluminum combined with elegant metal chamfered edges, and the connection ports are precisely CNC-cut. Inside, the body frame is made of an extremely sturdy Aluminum - Magnesium alloy. The bottom cover of the HP Zbook 15 G5 features a design similar to the G1-G2 versions but in a new language, allowing for quick access to the battery, 2.5-inch hard drive, NVMe SSD, RAM, and SIM card slot with just one step: sliding the release latch to one side. This is a highly commendable change from HP, as on the G3-G4 versions, quick access required removing many screws from the bottom cover to reach the internal components.

Display

The HP Zbook 15 G5 is equipped with a thinner display than the previous G4 generation, and the four bezels have also been redesigned in combination with the brand-new HP logo.

The color gamut of the ZBook 15 covers 112% of the sRGB spectrum, which is lower than some competitors and the workstation average (152 percent). The Precision 3530 and ThinkPad P1 achieve 117% and 179%, respectively. The ZBook 15 can output 631 nits of brightness, well above the average of 365 nits seen on the ThinkPad P1 (285 nits) and Precision 3530 (289 nits).

Configuration

HP ZBook 15 G5 features an Intel Core i9-8950HK chip, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and an Nvidia Quadro P1000 4GB graphics card. This is a powerful configuration for a Laptop Workstation; users will not have to worry about lag while designing graphics or rendering because the processing speed of this laptop is extremely fast.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The HP ZBook 15 G5 keyboard retains the design of the previous generation, featuring a chiclet-style keyboard with standard sizing and a numeric keypad. It includes an optional backlight option to support working in low-light environments. The key layout is very reasonable, providing a very comfortable typing experience without any flex.

The touchpad is designed with 6 functional keys chamfered at the center, a very small detail that brings harmony to the overall machine. The touchpad has not changed much from the previous generation but still provides a great experience with 2 to 4-finger gestures, allowing for extremely fast switching between applications or desktops. It is capable of completely replacing a mouse for both basic and advanced tasks.

Speakers

The external speakers on the HP ZBook 15 G5 are equipped with technology from the renowned speaker manufacturer B&O (Bang&Olufsen). The speakers provide excellent audio detail, the volume has been significantly improved, and the bass feels stronger and more solid than the old version. The audio experience has many worthwhile upgrades, which is a commendable feature for a workstation laptop.

B&O Audio App: The integrated B&O Audio App allows for fine-tuning many sound modes suitable for different music genres, as well as adjusting microphones in various working environments. The audio system on the HP ZBook 15 G5 basically meets the user's needs well.

Connectivity Ports

The HP ZBook 15 G5 possesses many connectivity ports to meet the needs of various users, a feature found only in the Mobile Workstation line. The VGA port has been removed, and the highly valuable Thunderbolt 3 port has been retained, as the trend of using this interface is becoming increasingly popular, requiring high bandwidth while remaining compact and suitable for most devices.
