The HP Omen 17 laptop lineup has just been updated with more powerful configurations, including the AMD Ryzen 8040HS Hawk Point APU processor and NVIDIA RTX 40 series graphics cards. A standout feature is that this machine is equipped with an NPU to support AI processing tasks.

Regarding design, the 2024 Omen 17 version features a new, smoother appearance compared to previous generations, with logos on the A and C sides, along with an audio system enhanced by HyperX—a gaming gear brand from HP.
The machine weighs approximately 3kg and is 30mm thick, so it is not a compact laptop model. However, the design is optimized to ensure it does not interfere with the mouse experience while gaming.
The HP Omen 17 has a larger design compared to the HP Omen Transcend 14, available in only one black color option with an anodized aluminum finish.
Connectivity ports on the HP Omen 17 2024 include USB-C 10Gbps, USB-A 10Gbps, USB-A 5Gbps, RJ-45, a 3.5mm jack, and HDMI 2.1. The device comes with a 230W power adapter to charge the 83Whr battery.
The HP Omen 17 2024 display is a 17.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440), 48-240Hz, 3ms, IPS, 300 nits, 100% sRGB, 16:9 aspect ratio. However, according to other sources, it appears HP may also offer an FHD, 7ms option with 300 nits brightness, which would naturally be more affordable than the QHD version. Given that the starting price for the HP Omen 17 2024 is from $1300, these features are not entirely unexpected. The laptop features a 1080p resolution webcam.
Notably, the machine still includes a Copilot button on the keyboard, similar to Intel’s definition of AI PCs. HP also equips the device with single-zone RGB LED backlighting, a full-size keyboard, and a fairly large touchpad.
Regarding configuration, after many years of using Intel processors, the HP Omen 17 2024 has switched to AMD processors, specifically the Ryzen 5 8645HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS. Graphics options vary, with the highest being the RTX 4070, paired with 32GB RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Unlike the Intel Raptor Lake Refresh Core i 14th gen, the AMD Ryzen 8040HS Hawk Point series is equipped with Ryzen AI XDNA technology, delivering processing performance of up to 16 TOPS. Consequently, the Omen 17 2024 becomes a powerful gaming laptop suitable not only for gaming but also for AI processing tasks.
Wireless connectivity features for the HP Omen 17 2024 include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.
Upon the release of the HP Omen 17 2024, HP also introduced HyperX gaming accessories for its gaming laptop models, including the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Core gaming mouse and HyperX Cloud MIX Buds 2 wireless earbuds.
The HP Omen 17 2024 will be available on the market starting today, April 24, with a starting price from $1350, the gaming mouse priced at $50, and the earbuds at $150.
