On August 1, 2023, Intel quietly released two new graphics cards, the Arc A570M and Arc A530M, which the company is aiming at mainstream laptops. The two new cards join Intel's existing lineup of graphics cards, from the A770M down to the A350M, rounding out a full product range.
Based on the specifications and the timing of the launch, some people speculated that the Arc A570M and A550M might use an upgraded Alchemist+ GPU die. That turns out not to be the case.
Device IDs and driver files show that both the A570M and A550M graphics cards use the ACM-G12 GPU die (also known as DG2-G12 / DG2-256 / SOC3). The same GPU die is also used in the Arc Pro A60 / A60M professional graphics cards, which launched in June 2023.
Intel's Arc A-series graphics cards now come in three different GPU dies. The A700/A700M and A550M series all use the large ACM-G10/DG2-G10/DG2-512/SOC1 die, which measures 406 square mm and has 21.7 billion transistors, 32 Xe cores and a 256-bit memory interface.
The A300/A300M and A30M series use the smaller ACM-G11/DG2-G11/DG2-128/SOC2 die, which measures 157 square mm and has 7.2 billion transistors, 8 Xe cores and a 96-bit memory interface.
The size of the ACM-G12 GPU die has not been officially announced, but it can be confirmed to have up to 16 Xe cores, and its memory interface is likely 128-bit. The official specifications have not yet been released.
The key specifications of the A570M and A550M are the same: both have 16 Xe cores and can use 8GB of GDDR6 memory. However, the GPU dies differ, with the A570M running at higher clock speeds and power consumption.
The memory configuration of the ACM-G12 GPU die in Intel's Arc A-series graphics cards has not been officially announced either, but it can be guessed that it may use 8GB of memory with a 128-bit interface, or be cut down to 6GB with a 96-bit memory interface.
Information from driver version 31.0.101.4577, which Intel released alongside the two new Arc A570M and Arc A530M graphics cards, indicates that the two cards are ready to be handed over to laptop OEM manufacturers.
There are currently rumors online that Intel will launch an upgraded Alchemist+ GPU die in mid-2023, before the second-generation Battlemage arrives. However, Intel has not officially confirmed this, and more than half of the year has already gone by.
In the desktop market, Intel's graphics lineup currently includes the A770 16/8GB, A750, A380 and A310. There are still some gaps between these products, namely the mid-range A500 series, which includes the previously rumored A580 and Pro A580 and may use the ACM-G12 GPU die. It seems Intel is waiting for the arrival of Alchemist+.
