After more than two long years of endless speculation, Nvidia has yet to officially announce specific plans for consumer hardware based on the Arm architecture. However, the latest leaks have ignited hope among tech enthusiasts that this chip is on its way to users. Dell, one of the close partners frequently mentioned in related rumors, appears to have considered using this component for a high-end laptop model. Furthermore, there is a high probability that the mysterious chip codenamed Nvidia N1X will be deployed in an Alienware device in the near future.
The Close Connection Between Dell and the Nvidia N1X CPU Project
Recently, a famous leaker named Orlak shared a shipping manifest suggesting that Dell conducted tests with Nvidia’s long-rumored N1X processor as early as last year. According to expert predictions, “Team Green” Nvidia is expected to officially unveil commercial products equipped with this Arm chip sometime in 2026.
The leaked manifest provides detailed descriptions of a 16-inch OLED laptop under Dell’s “Premium” brand. Notably, this is the product line that Dell rebranded as XPS at the recent CES exhibition. The N1X chip is often described as a processor designed for AI PCs (Artificial Intelligence PCs). In fact, Dell previously attempted to phase out the classic XPS name to pivot toward an AI-oriented brand direction last year. However, the company had to reverse this decision at last week’s CES event, while acknowledging the harsh reality that the “AI” keyword failed to capture the interest of general consumers.
The connection between Dell and the N1X chip has been mentioned since 2024. At that time, CEO Michael Dell and Nvidia boss Jensen Huang advised people to “wait and see” amidst a storm of rumors that Nvidia was developing Arm-based CPUs to compete directly with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite series. Subsequent rumors expanded to suggest that Nvidia is developing an Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) specifically for an Alienware laptop, Dell’s gaming-focused sub-brand. Subsequent leaked data indicates that this chip could possess performance comparable to some of the fastest mobile processors currently available from Intel and AMD.
Graphics Power and the Future of the Windows on Arm Ecosystem
The most notable aspect of the Nvidia N1X CPU’s performance lies in its graphics processing capabilities. According to sources, the integrated graphics (iGPU) on this chip possesses a number of CUDA cores equivalent to the RTX 5070 discrete graphics card. This is an extremely impressive specification for an integrated chip, promising powerful gaming and graphics processing capabilities without the need for a bulky discrete card.
Additionally, the N1X is expected to appear in a more affordable version of the DGX Spark mini AI PC. This is a mini supercomputer that Nvidia and MediaTek announced last year. The original kit was priced at up to $4,000 and equipped with a 20-core CPU, allowing enterprise users to run AI models without relying on cloud services. The new version utilizing the N1X is expected to target general consumers with a more accessible price point.
While the Arm instruction set is typically used for smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices, both Qualcomm and Microsoft have recently begun aggressively promoting Windows laptops running on the Arm platform, following Apple’s successful transition to its own custom Arm-based chip designs (“Apple Silicon”). Although netbooks running Snapdragon chips have seen limited commercial success so far, Qualcomm and Microsoft remain persistent in improving their software, with a primary focus currently on the gaming sector.
Currently, the emulation layer for translating Windows x86 to Arm already supports most game titles and almost all anti-cheat services. Furthermore, Windows games running natively on the Arm platform are expected to launch as early as this year. This means the software ecosystem could be ready and mature just in time for the rumored official market debut of devices powered by the Nvidia N1X chip.
