In the context of increasing demand for compact, energy-efficient computing devices that do not compromise on performance, Aaeon – a renowned brand in the Industrial IoT and AI Edge sectors – has officially introduced the world’s smallest fanless Mini-PC. Named the PICO-MTU4-SEMI, this product is built on the Intel Core Ultra platform with an ultra-compact design, promising to unlock numerous critical applications in industry and automation.

Compact yet Powerful Design

Since the early 1990s, Aaeon has expanded its global operations from its headquarters in Taiwan to offices in Europe and North America. With over three decades of experience, the company continues to make its mark with the launch of the PICO-MTU4-SEMI, a Mini-PC measuring only 108 x 95 x 43mm. Thanks to its fanless design, the product can be easily integrated into industrial robots and AGVs, ensuring quiet and stable operation in demanding environments.

Despite its tiny footprint, this Mini-PC is equipped with either an Intel Core Ultra 5 125U or a Core Ultra 7 165U, both featuring a 15W base power consumption and supporting turbo boosts up to 57W. The device integrates LPDDR5-6400 memory with a maximum capacity of 32GB (soldered), and supports PCIe Gen 4 and SATA M.2 2280 SSDs for high-speed storage expansion.

Fanless Mini-PC: The Optimal Solution for Industry and AI Edge

The standout feature of the PICO-MTU4-SEMI is its connectivity flexibility. The product features two LAN ports (2.5GbE and 1GbE), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one HDMI 1.4 port, and two COM ports supporting RS-232/422/485 – allowing connection to a wide range of industrial devices. Additionally, an M.2 2230 E-Key slot allows users to expand Wi-Fi, while GPIO and I2C/SMBus ports provide numerous integration options.

The system weighs only 0.6kg with a volume of 0.44 liters, making it extremely lightweight and easy to mount in confined spaces. Notably, the device supports both Windows 10/11 64-bit and Ubuntu 22.04.2, giving users the flexibility to choose the appropriate platform.

Regarding power, the PICO-MTU4-SEMI uses a 3V/240mAh lithium battery to maintain standby power. With its reasonable TDP and fanless design, the product aims to minimize maintenance and increase longevity in continuous working environments.

Practical Applications and Outlook

The arrival of this fanless Intel Core Ultra Mini-PC opens up many applications in various fields:

  • AI Edge: supports real-time data analysis on-site without relying on the cloud.
  • Industrial Robots & AGVs: easy to integrate, operating quietly and durably.
  • Kiosks & Digital Signage: leverages the compact design to optimize space.
  • Industrial IoT Networks: provides numerous connection ports for sensors, cameras, and measuring devices.

Aaeon has not yet announced the official retail price but stated that the product is ready for mass production and is targeting OEM and industrial integration projects.
