Razer x Lambda TensorBook is a collaboration between Razer and Lambda – a company specializing in deep learning technology.
Although it is built on the Razer Blade 15 gaming platform, the TensorBook does not target gamers; instead, it is aimed at deep learning developers, and the default operating system is Linux.
As mentioned, the Razer x Lambda TensorBook is based on the Blade 15 but is the 2021 version, featuring a Mercury white-gray color scheme where the Razer logo is replaced by the Lambda logo. The machine’s configuration includes a Core i7-11800H, but the GPU is the RTX 3080 Max-Q 16 GB GDDR6 version instead of the 8 GB GDDR6 found in the standard Razer Blade 15. It also features 64 GB RAM and two 1 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs. The rest includes a 15.6″ QHD 165 Hz display, and connectivity options including 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4, 3 USB-A, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
TensorBook comes pre-installed with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS along with specialized deep learning tools such as Lambda Stack, PyTorch, Tensorflow, CUDA, and cuDNN. If you prefer using Windows, you can opt for a dual-boot setup with both operating systems, and the deep learning toolset will be pre-installed on both OSs. Users will have to pay an additional $500 for this dual-boot configuration.
Lambda states that the TensorBook will deliver up to 4 times higher deep learning processing performance compared to the Apple M1 Max. With the above configuration and supporting tools, the TensorBook will start at $3,499 and go up to $4,398, with the only difference being the warranty package.
