The first Corsair laptop was revealed at the AMD event during Computex 2022.
This machine will lay the foundation for Corsair as it enters the laptop market, utilizing full AMD hardware to meet AMD Advantage standards.
This can be considered an unexpected turning point for Corsair, a brand famous for desktop hardware such as RAM, AIO coolers, cases, power supplies, or gaming gear like mechanical keyboards and gaming mice. However, in recent years—since the acquisition of streaming equipment specialist Elgato and especially Origin PC—Corsair’s product portfolio has become more diverse, including gaming monitors, pre-built PCs, gaming chairs, and now, laptops.
I am not surprised that Corsair is making laptops, as Origin PC—acquired by Corsair in 2019—has years of experience in the laptop business, though they mostly repurposed existing models from MSI, Clevo, or TongFang. This time, with the Voyager a1600, it seems the machine is custom-designed by the company (I haven’t seen a similar chassis from Clevo or TongFang).

The machine is very impressive with a 16″ QHD+ display featuring a 240 Hz refresh rate, 3 ms response time, FreeSync support, and a slim-bezel design. The integrated webcam at the top bezel has 1080p resolution and includes a privacy shutter for enhanced security. Next to the webcam is a 4-microphone array with noise-canceling support. Alongside the high-resolution screen is a dual 20mm speaker system supporting Dolby Atmos.
The keyboard is equipped with Cherry ultra-low profile mechanical switches, iCUE RGB lighting that syncs with other Corsair hardware, and a massive trackpad centered on the palm rest. Notably, there is a secondary screen above the keyboard that supports macro functions and Stream Deck hotkeys—software specifically used for streaming by Corsair/Elgato. An interesting feature of this secondary screen design is that it remains visible even when the laptop lid is closed, allowing you to still use the secondary screen buttons when connecting the laptop to external monitors.
Additionally, the machine comes with a built-in SlipStream wireless receiver, meaning you can connect other SlipStream-compatible wireless accessories like Corsair mice, headsets, and keyboards without needing to plug in separate receivers for each device.
Regarding specifications, the Voyager a1600 is equipped with AMD hardware such as the Ryzen 9 6900HS 8-core 16-thread 4.8 GHz+ or Ryzen 7 6800HS 8-core 16-thread 4.4 GHz+ processor, paired with AMD Radeon RX 6800M and a MUX switch. Being AMD Advantage certified, the Voyager a1600 will feature exclusive technologies like Smart Access Memory, Smart Access Graphics, Smart Access Storage, and Smart Shift to enhance performance. The remaining components are “in-house” Corsair products, such as Corsair Vengeance DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM (2 x 16 GB or 2 x 32 GB) and 1 TB or 2 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs (possibly the MP600 series); the machine features 2 x M.2 slots. The device is 19.8 mm thick, and to cool such powerful hardware, Corsair has equipped the machine with a dual-fan system and a vapor-chamber cooling solution.
The connectivity options on the Voyager a1600 are highly diverse, meeting both work and play requirements. The machine features 3 x USB-C ports (1 x USB 3.2, 2 x USB 4/Thunderbolt 3), 1 x USB-A port (USB 3.2), an SDXC card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Wireless connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The battery has a capacity of up to 99 Wh. The Corsair Voyager a1600 will be priced at $2,700 (Ryzen 7 6800HS + RX 6800M, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) and $3,000 (Ryzen 9 6900HS + RX 6800M, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD).
