Corsair's first laptop was unveiled at AMD's event during Computex 2022.
This machine marks Corsair's first step into the laptop market, and it runs entirely on AMD hardware that meets the AMD Advantage standard.
It's a surprising turn for Corsair, a company best known for desktop components such as RAM, AIO coolers, cases, power supplies, and gaming gear like mechanical keyboards and gaming mice. In recent years, though, since acquiring the streaming hardware maker Elgato and, notably, the PC builder Origin PC, Corsair's lineup has grown to include gaming monitors, prebuilt PCs, gaming chairs, and now a laptop.
I'm not surprised that Corsair is making a laptop. Origin PC, which Corsair acquired in 2019, has spent years in the laptop business, though mostly by rebadging existing models from MSI, Clevo, and TongFang. With the Voyager a1600, the machine looks to be an in-house design (I haven't seen a similar chassis from Clevo or TongFang).

The laptop's 16" display is impressive: QHD+ resolution, a 240 Hz refresh rate, a 3 ms response time, FreeSync support, and slim bezels. The built-in 1080p webcam sits in the top bezel and has a privacy shutter, and next to it is a cluster of 4 microphones with noise cancellation. Alongside the high-resolution screen is a dual 20mm speaker system with Dolby Atmos support.
The keyboard is mechanical, with Cherry ultra-low profile switches, iCUE RGB lighting that syncs with other Corsair hardware, and a huge trackpad centered on the palm rest. Notably, above the keyboard is a secondary display that supports macros and the function keys of Stream Deck, the streaming software from Corsair/Elgato. One neat detail of this secondary display is that it stays visible when the lid is closed, so you can still use its buttons while the laptop is connected to external monitors.
The laptop also has a built-in SlipStream wireless receiver, so you can connect wireless accessories that use SlipStream, such as Corsair mice, headsets, and keyboards, without plugging in a separate receiver for each device.
On the specs side, the Voyager a1600 uses AMD hardware: an 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 9 6900HS at up to 4.8 GHz or an 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 6800HS at up to 4.4 GHz, paired with an AMD Radeon RX 6800M and a MUX switch. Because it meets the AMD Advantage standard, the Voyager a1600 also gets exclusive features to boost performance: Smart Access Memory, Smart Access Graphics, Smart Access Storage, and Smart Shift. The rest of the hardware is homegrown Corsair, including Corsair Vengeance DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM (2 x 16 GB or 2 x 32 GB) and a 1 TB or 2 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD (possibly the MP600 line), with 2 M.2 slots in total. The laptop is 19.8 mm thick, and to cool such powerful hardware, Corsair fitted a 2-fan system with a vapor-chamber heatsink.
The Voyager a1600 has a varied port selection that covers both work and play. It has 3 USB-C ports (1 USB 3.2 port and 2 USB 4/Thunderbolt 3 ports), 1 USB-A port (USB 3.2), an SDXC card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Wireless connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The battery capacity is up to 99 Wh. The Corsair Voyager a1600 will be priced at 2700 USD (Ryzen 7 6800HS + RX 6800M, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) and 3000 USD (Ryzen 9 6900HS + RX 6800M, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD).
