This year, the MacBook Pro 14-inch has received significant upgrades with the powerful M1 Pro CPU, a “notch” design, and the MagSafe charging port. Let’s take a quick look at this product together.
Inside the box, users will receive a 67W power adapter (the 10-core CPU version comes with 90W), a braided MagSafe charging cable, a user manual, and two Apple logo stickers.
The overall exterior design hasn’t changed much; however, the chassis is considerably thicker than its predecessor.

The bottom features the “MacBook Pro” text engraved in the center of the chassis. Below that, there is a line containing basic laptop information. Additionally, we can see two quite large ventilation slots.
One of the highlights of the MacBook Pro 14-inch is its display. The laptop is equipped with a mini-LED screen with more pixels, supporting higher contrast, a peak brightness of up to 1600 nits, and ProMotion 120Hz technology.
The most notable feature is the “notch,” making this the first laptop with a screen design like this. The notch does not occupy too much space, so it doesn’t significantly affect usage; this is where the webcam is located. The image quality from this webcam is quite good, featuring a resolution of up to 1080p.
The MacBook Pro 14-inch keyboard has a very familiar design; however, one key change is that the function key row has returned to replace the Touch Bar. On the top left is the fingerprint sensor,
The device features two speaker strips on both sides of the keyboard with quite high total output. Reviewers have rated the speaker experience on this laptop as quite good. Additionally, the trackpad is designed with a large area, providing a better user experience.
Regarding performance, the Sforum unit being reviewed is equipped with the M1 Pro processor with 8 CPU cores and 14 GPU cores, paired with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.
The laptop achieved quite high Geekbench scores with 1684 points in the single-core test, 9251 points in the multi-core test, and 24503 points in the GPU test. This score even surpasses the CPU score of the 2019 MacBook Pro 16-inch Intel Core i9 version, though it still falls short of the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M GPU.
Regarding connectivity, the MacBook Pro 14-inch features an HDMI port, one Type-C port, and an SD card slot on the right side, while the left side has a 3.5mm audio jack, two Type-C ports, and a MagSafe charging port. According to Apple, users can watch videos for up to 17 hours, and the device also supports fast charging, capable of charging 50% in just 30 minutes; however, users will need to purchase a 96W adapter to enable fast charging.
