The Windows 11 22H2 “Moment 3” is about to be released by Microsoft, and this is the third major feature update since Windows 11 22H2 was released. Below are some of the features expected to debut in the upcoming “Moment 3” update.
Widget Board – redesigned widget layout
Windows 11 22H2 “Moment 3” is expected to launch this month or in June. The first feature is the Widget Board, where Microsoft will move your personal widgets to one side, separating them from the MSN news feed. The new Widget Board on Windows 11 will have two columns: the left column will contain widgets added by the user, and the right column will be where Microsoft’s built-in widgets are located.
Widgets will now also allow users to pin frequently used widgets. Third-party providers are also permitted to create widgets for Windows 11, and Facebook is one of them, offering a widget that updates notifications related to your friends.
Updates for Notifications Center & Taskbar
If you use Phone Link to connect your phone, the Notifications Center on Windows 11 will now allow you to copy OTP codes, including 2FA codes from various apps, as well as other types of OTP codes. Not just Phone Link, copying OTP codes will also work with other local applications like Telegram, Skype, and Teams.
The Taskbar on Windows 11 will also receive a few minor updates, such as the Wi-Fi signal icon displaying a VPN icon when in use. Icons like Start, Weather, or Search will feature effects when users hover over or open them. If the “Search Box” feature is enabled on the taskbar, users will see a Bing icon; clicking it will immediately access Bing Chat on Edge instead of opening in the search box.
Updates for Settings
A major change to Windows 11 Settings is that Microsoft is adding an option that allows you to receive new features as soon as they are ready for your device, rather than waiting for monthly patches; this is unrelated to security patches.
Settings will also include a new page to view information about USB4 compatible devices and USB4 devices currently connected to the computer, along with the ability to copy detailed information to the clipboard.
Regarding privacy, Settings on Windows 11 will include a new permission to control whether applications can detect user presence while using the computer, allowing users to proactively enable or disable access to sensors for this feature. For example, some computers or applications use the webcam and infrared sensors to confirm a user is sitting in front of the PC to prevent the device from locking, or to automatically lock when the user walks away and unlock when they return.
Finally, there is an option to display the on-screen keyboard.
New updates for File Explorer, Photos, Live Captions, and Voice Access
Microsoft also plans to add a “slideshow” viewing mode to the Photos app, which is the default photo viewer for Windows 11. A variety of new transition effects and music tracks will be added to Photos when users use the “slideshow” feature, as well as the return of the repair tool, which was part of the Photos app but was ultimately removed when Windows 11 was officially released.
Regarding accessibility, the Live Captions feature will add support for Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and several other English dialects. The Voice Access feature will also receive support for more languages, making it easier to use and learn the voice access features.
Finally, for File Explorer, Microsoft is adding a feature for quick access to items in the new Context Menu, where each first letter corresponds to an “access key” for quick navigation.
