Laptops using the next-generation Nvidia RTX 50 graphics cards are about to launch, even though they were not introduced at CES. However, retailers have already begun announcing official specifications.
A list from Best Buy confirms that gaming laptop manufacturers have integrated RTX 50 GPUs with the latest high-end CPUs from Intel and AMD. Users can now sign up for notifications for nine gaming laptop models equipped with RTX 50, with prices ranging from $1,900 to $4,200.
Currently, delivery times remain undetermined, as all models – including eight Asus ROG laptops and one HP Omen model – are listed as “Coming Soon.” However, the specifications have revealed the CPU and memory configurations of these devices.
The lowest-priced laptop model, at $1,900, is the Asus ROG Strix 16 inch. This device is equipped with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, 16GB RAM, and a 1200p 165Hz refresh rate screen. Notably, this is the only AMD laptop in the list that does not use the Strix Point CPU, but instead uses the Ryzen 9 8940HX, providing a first look at AMD’s new Dragon Range lineup.
The only laptop model using the RTX 5070 is priced slightly higher at $2,000. Despite using the weakest announced 50-series GPU, the ROG Zephyrus 16 features a 1600p 240Hz OLED display and an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor. Notably, this is also the RTX 5070 version equipped only with 8GB GDDR7 VRAM.
At the top end of the price range, two laptop models using RTX 5090 graphics cards are the highest priced. Both feature 1600p 240Hz refresh rate screens, 32GB RAM, and 24GB VRAM. The cheaper model, priced at $4,000, is another ROG Zephyrus 16 version, equipped with an OLED screen and a Core Ultra 9 285H CPU. Meanwhile, the ROG Strix SCAR model is priced at $4,100, upgrading to an 18-inch Mini-LED screen and using a Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU.
For customers prioritizing portability, the ROG Zephyrus 14 inch laptop line offers two powerful GPU options: RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti. Both versions feature 1800p 120Hz OLED screens, 32GB RAM, and the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. The RTX 5070 Ti version with 12GB VRAM and 1TB of storage is priced at 2,200 USD, while the model using the RTX 5080 with 16GB VRAM and 2TB of storage will retail for 3,000 USD.
Additionally, Nvidia has released information regarding the power consumption and CUDA core counts for four top mobile GPU models. The RTX 5090 features 10,496 CUDA cores with power consumption ranging from 95W to 150W, while the RTX 5080 drops to 7,680 CUDA cores with power consumption from 80W to 150W. The RTX 5070 Ti has 5,888 CUDA cores and consumes between 60W and 115W, while the RTX 5070 contains 4,608 CUDA cores and consumes between 50W and 100W.
Notably, the South Korean retailer Coupang has teased information about the RTX 5050 GPU model, confirming that this is an entry-level GPU with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM. This means the RTX 5050 may be the only graphics card in the RTX 50 series not equipped with GDDR7 memory.
Currently, the official launch dates for the new generation of laptops using Nvidia RTX 50 GPUs have not yet been announced. However, reviews for the RTX 5090 desktop are expected to appear on January 24th, while the RTX 5080 desktop will launch on January 30th. The RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti models are expected to debut in February, while Nvidia has yet to reveal information regarding the desktop or laptop versions of the RTX 5060.
