The race between AMD and Intel in the mobile CPU market is heating up as the new product roadmap through 2027 has just been leaked. Information from the Spanish laptop manufacturer – Seleno – has partially revealed the strategic moves of both “giants” in shaping the future of the laptop segment, from mid-range to high-end and next-generation gaming devices.

Information shared by reliable leakers such as @x86deadandback and @momomo_us shows a detailed picture of upcoming microprocessor lines, including Panther Lake, Wildcat Lake, Medusa Point, and the successor to Fire Range. Although timelines are subject to change, this remains a crucial basis for laptop and game console manufacturers to shape their long-term plans.

AMD prepares to bring Zen 6 to laptops in 2027

According to the leaked roadmap, AMD will continue to use the 16-core Fire Range processor line based on Zen 5 architecture for high-performance devices (TDP over 45W) until the end of 2026. The Strix Halo APU line will also continue to be used throughout 2027. Meanwhile, the mid-to-high segment (15–54W) will transition to Kraken Point and Gorgon Point, both based on Zen 5 with a 4nm process and AI performance reaching 50–55 TOPS.

Amd Prepares To Bring Zen 6 To Laptops In 2027

The most notable point is that AMD will begin deploying Zen 6 on mobile devices in 2027. Specifically:

  • Gator Rande will succeed Fire Range in the high-end segment.
  • Medusa Point, using a 3nm process and FP10 socket, will replace Gorgon Point in the mid-range.
  • Another version, Medusa BB, is also mentioned, expected to replace the Hawk Point line in the mainstream segment in mid-2027.

Although detailed information about Gator Rande is still very limited, the roadmap shows a strong shift in performance and semiconductor process in AMD’s microprocessor lines. Additionally, Zen 6 integrated with RDNA 5 graphics (also known as UDNA) is rumored to be the platform for next-generation gaming consoles like the PlayStation 6 and the next Xbox. On desktop, Zen 6 chips are expected to have more cores and clock speeds that could reach from 6.4 to 7 GHz – a highly anticipated advancement.

Intel pursues the 18A process with Panther Lake

On Intel‘s side, Seleno’s roadmap extends through the end of 2026. The biggest highlight is that Intel will transition to using the 18A process with the Panther Lake-H line, starting from late 2025. This could be the company’s final effort to regain its position in the semiconductor technology race, which is currently being far outpaced by TSMC and Samsung.

Intel Pursues The 18A Process With Panther Lake

Specifically:

  • H-series laptops (45–55W) will transition from Raptor Lake Refresh to Arrow Lake-HX/H, and then to Panther Lake-H.
  • The 28W mid-range and 15W mainstream segments will welcome the Wildcat Lake line, succeeding Raptor Lake from 2025.
  • However, Twin Lake – the microprocessor line for N-series devices (7–15W) – will continue to be maintained until mid-2026, contrary to some previous predictions that Wildcat would completely replace Twin Lake.

One notable thing is that Intel’s roadmap does not provide information on core counts or detailed processes beyond 18A, and does not mention lines such as Nova or Bartlett Lake. This indicates many strategic changes focusing on architectural competitiveness and performance rather than rapid category expansion.

Overall, the roadmap from Seleno provides important insights into the strategic moves of AMD and Intel from now until 2027. AMD is showing aggression with Zen 6 and 3nm process microprocessors with powerful AI integration, while Intel is concentrating its strength on the 18A process to maintain its position in the high-performance laptop segment. The race between these two giants will certainly have a major impact on the design and performance of millions of devices globally over the next 2–3 years.
