Nvidia has just released GeForce Hotfix Driver 581.94 to address the gaming performance drops caused by the KB5066835 update for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. The Microsoft patch inadvertently created an issue that reduces frame rates (FPS) in certain games. Nvidia recommends that users install this new driver immediately if they notice a drop in FPS performance after updating Windows. This is Nvidia’s effort to provide a rapid solution for the gaming community facing these issues.
GeForce Hotfix: A “temporary” solution to fix Windows system errors
The GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 581.94 is built upon the latest Game Ready Driver 581.80 from Nvidia. GeForce drivers are extremely complex software, and the company employs a massive team of software engineers who constantly add features and fix bugs. These changes are tested on main driver branches, then undergo a massive quality assurance (QA) process before being released.
Because so many changes are integrated, Nvidia often tries to align driver releases with major game launches or product releases. This process has served the company well for many years, but it has one significant drawback: sometimes, a critical change for many users may have to wait until Nvidia can release the next official driver.

The GeForce Hotfix driver is Nvidia’s way of attempting to get specific bug fixes into users’ hands faster.
