High-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU delivers double the performance of the RTX 4090 at a price of $1999, featuring 32 GB of GDDR7 memory in a compact dual-slot thermal design.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 is the ultimate high-end choice that Blackwell brings to gamers. This graphics card is incredibly powerful and serves as an excellent solution for both content creators and gamers. NVIDIA has put significant effort into designing this product, so let’s see what you get for a price of up to $2000, the largest price increase for a GeForce GPU to date.

With the new Blackwell GPU architecture, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series graphics card line utilizes next-generation hardware technologies such as 5th Gen Tensor Cores, new multi-threaded processing units, and 4th Gen Ray Tracing cores. The new architecture also supports FP4 algorithms for even faster AI processing, which can be leveraged by technologies like DLSS 4.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Graphics Card Specifications
Starting with the details, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 will be the flagship in the lineup. This graphics card is expected to feature a PG144/145-SKU30 PCB design and will use the GB202-300-A1 GPU core. The GPU will have 170 active SMs out of a total of 192 SMs and will have 21,760 cores instead of a maximum of 24,576 cores. This marks an 11.4% reduction, slightly higher than the 11.1% reduction of the RTX 4090 compared to the full AD102 die.
Regarding memory, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 will be extremely powerful with up to 32 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, running on a 512-bit interface. The VRAM will operate at 30 Gbps, providing bandwidth of up to 1792 GB/s, while a larger L3 cache and new memory compression techniques will also enhance the overall bandwidth for the GPU.

The graphics card will have a TBP of 575W; however, it is important to note that the TBP value should not be compared to actual power consumption in the real world or during gaming, as this figure is typically much lower. It is also equipped with the latest technologies such as PCIe Gen 5.0 support and DisplayPort 2.1b UHBR20 (8K 165Hz) to take full advantage of newly released QD-OLED monitors.
In terms of performance, NVIDIA states that the GeForce RTX 5090 is twice as fast as the RTX 4090 when using DLSS 4 in titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Black Myth Wukong. For standard games like Far Cry 6, performance increases by approximately 30-40% without using DLSS.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 arrives with Founders Edition and custom designs.
Regarding design, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition uses a dual-slot, dual-fan cooling solution, applying a dual-ventilation design with two intake fans at the front, making it more compact compared to the RTX 4090. The FE model has a length of 304mm and a height of 137mm, utilizing liquid TIM and a three-layer PCB, which is a first for GeForce GPUs. The card will also be available in custom versions from manufacturing partners.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be the fastest GPUs in this product line and will be released on January 30th.
