The world-leading computing brand Lenovo has spent years experimenting with rollable display technologies with the goal of bringing larger display space to mobile devices without the need for bulky external accessories. While most of those previous efforts often focused on office productivity, the company’s latest concept is attempting to realize something once thought impossible: an ultrawide laptop. The Legion Pro Rollable is a bold combination of a rollable OLED panel and the legendary Legion Pro 7i chassis, creating a high-end gaming machine capable of flexibly switching between three different aspect ratios.
Mechanism and powerful hardware configuration of the Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable
When fully retracted in Focus Mode, the Legion Pro Rollable looks exactly like the standard 16-inch laptop we are accustomed to seeing. However, the magic lies within, featuring a dual-motor mechanism based on tension. This mechanism allows the screen to expand into a 21.5-inch Tactical Mode or an Arena Mode of up to 24 inches. Although Lenovo has not disclosed the exact aspect ratios, this size variation is extremely impressive for a mobile device.
According to Lenovo, they have utilized low-friction materials and a specialized tensioning system to ensure durability, as well as to help the transition between modes occur smoothly and quietly. However, the actual experience at CES may not be as perfect as the theory. Tech news site Tom’s Hardware reported that at least one display unit emitted quite loud creaking sounds during operation. Nevertheless, this is only a concept version, and Lenovo is positioning this product toward esports athletes—those who need extra screen space while traveling for competitions—even though the potential market for this customer group may be quite limited.
Running high-frame-rate games smoothly on such a large screen requires extremely powerful hardware. The Pro Rollable’s Legion Pro 7i platform is designed to meet those demanding needs with top-tier components. If this concept is commercialized and released to the market, it is expected to be equipped with a laptop version of the RTX 5090 graphics card and the highest-end Intel Core Ultra processor—most likely the recently announced X9 388H model.
AI gaming assistants and other tech devices
Lenovo is also leveraging this concept model to showcase two artificial intelligence (AI) integrated gaming assistants. These assistants are capable of automatically adjusting display settings and providing in-game support based on contextual cues. Specifically, these tools can fine-tune display settings, boost frame rates, zoom in on specific elements, modify lighting, and even offer gameplay advice to gamers.

This gaming-focused Pro Rollable model marks a shift from Lenovo’s previous expandable laptop designs, which primarily relied on vertical screen expansion. This unusual ultrawide aspect ratio provides space for additional working windows, displaying programming code, or watching videos in the background while users perform various other tasks.
Looking back at last year’s CES, Lenovo introduced the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, which has now become the first rollable laptop to reach consumers. This year’s exhibition also featured a related idea, the Rollable XD Concept, which allows part of the screen to fold onto the laptop’s top lid. Additionally, other Lenovo ideas at CES 2026 include AI glasses, an AI hub containing two ThinkStation PGX workstations, AI-powered displays, and adaptive keyboards. The company also confirmed that one of their previously announced mobile devices, the Legion Go 2 handheld gaming console, will become the second model in their lineup supporting Valve’s SteamOS platform.
